Clare Armitage

Clare has worked in public and private art galleries between Darwin and Katherine for the last 9 years. In 2014 she undertook an Australia Council Curatorial Fellowship at the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre in Katherine where she subsequently worked as the Curator from 2017-2019. To the best of Clare’s knowledge, The Godinymayin Centre is the only cultural organisation in Australia with a bi-cultural mandate.

Clare graduated with a Master of Art History and Curatorial Studies from the Australian National University in 2016; and in 2017 was named the Inaugural Artback SPARK NT Curator, and Fecund: Fertile Worlds, toured the NT in 2017 & 2018. In 2019 Clare participated in the Australia Council for the Arts Emerging Arts Professionals program at the Venice Biennale, and was the Northern Territory representative for the National Association for the Visual Arts parliamentary advocacy program, Arts Day on the Hill.

Clare is currently the Assistant Curator of Art at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.
