SPEAKER: A Published Event

A Published Event

Artist duo, A Published Event (Justy Phillips and Margaret Woodward) make long-term relational artworks through shared acts of public telling. Exploring chance encounter, constructed situations and the shared authorship of lived experience; we work with language, ideas and publishing.

In 2019 we were named Ruth Stephan Fellows and Visiting Research Scholars at the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale University USA. At the same time, we were awarded a highly competitive artists residency at the Joseph & Anni Albers Foundation, Connecticut, USA. In 2017, we were selected as collaborating artists in the Banff International Curatorial Institute’s Residency 'Geologic Time' curated by Max Andrews and Mariana Capena Luna (Latitudes, Barcelona), with faculty, Sean Lynch (Ireland). Three of our publications were finalists in the Premier’s Literary Awards 2017, Tasmania, Australia, including Crocoite by Margaret Woodward and Fall of the Derwent by A Published Event.
